As one of Avonturenpark Hellendoorn’s most iconic attractions, Wild Waterval holds a special place in Dutch theme park history. The ride originally opened in 1982 as Canadian River and is widely recognized as the first log flume attraction in the Netherlands. In its latest reimagining, Wild Waterval has been given a new lease of life through a renewed experience where technology, storytelling and music come together. For this landmark attraction, we created a completely new soundtrack as well as the show control system that seamlessly brings the entire journey to life.
Multi-zone synchronized soundtrack
The renewed ride takes visitors on an immersive pirate-themed journey in which audio plays a central role. Especially for Wild Waterval, we composed a soundtrack that plays in sync across seven different zones throughout the attraction. Each zone has its own musical atmosphere and progression, with changing layers of instrumentation. In this way, the story unfolds step by step, drawing visitors deeper into the adventurous world of the ride as they move through it.
Show Control
In addition to the music, we also created the show control system behind the experience. This system synchronizes the different musical layers, processes sensory input from the attraction, and ensures that the audio and control systems remain perfectly aligned at all times. It forms the technical backbone of the experience.
We also developed a user-friendly solution for day-to-day operation. Through touch panels, operators can easily control both the music and the public address system. This makes the system not only powerful and flexible, but also practical and intuitive for the team working with it every day.
With this combination of composition, technology and control, our work contributes to an attraction experience that is richer, more dynamic and more story-driven than ever before. Wild Waterval shows how music and show control can transform a classic attraction into a contemporary immersive experience.
